About Anne
Anne is an associate professor in work, welfare and employment at Middlesex University, London and an alumna of the Woodrow Wilson Center, Washington DC. A specialist in labour market and employment policies, her current research - funded by the ESRC, the main British research council - compares welfare reform in the USA in the UK, with a particular focus on ‘Workfare’ and the rights of benefit claimants. Anne has written several academic papers on employment and social policies, and is also a contributor to the Guardian and the French monthly Le Monde Diplomatique.
Anne has also carried out research on social policies in Venezuela since 2008, and is a regular visitor. She has published academic articles on antipoverty programs in Venezuela in both English and French peer-reviewed journals.
During her spare time, Anne enjoys long walks on the beach, with a particular fondness for East Sussex.
